Hey, DeSantis: Just Get Off the Pot Or Sh*T Already!
The super PAC promoting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis plans to hire dozens of staff in the first 18 states on the Republican presidential primary calendar in the coming weeks, indicating that his expected 2024 announcement is drawing closer. The Never Back Down PAC is hiring staff across the 18 earliest states to vote in the 2024 GOP primary, not just the traditional early four.
The PAC has also spent money on ads, but none have explicitly gone after former President Donald Trump so far.

NYMAG: So When Will Ron DeSantis Announce His 2024 Candidacy?
DeSantis will file paperwork with the Federal Election Commission declaring his candidacy next week, according to The Wall Street Journal. The governor is gathering top donors at a Four Seasons hotel in Miami from May 24 to 26 to start raising money for his presidential bid; CNN reports about 100 hotel rooms have been reserved for the event.
DeSantis will then announce his candidacy in Dunedin, Florida, his hometown. The Washington Post reports that the event is expected to take place after Memorial Day, which falls on May 29 this year.
The governor’s team has not confirmed any of these details, and CNN notes it would be like him to make an unexpected move:
“However, another source cautioned that the planning remains a moving target, and DeSantis is known to surprise even his closest allies and advisers with last-minute changes. DeSantis, who often boasts that he runs an operation free of leaks, may be further motivated to throw out the script to vex the media outlets who have preempted his announcement, the source said.”
Will This Impact Independence Day?
Better yet, who the heck has it and why did it take so long to report?
Train Missing Shipment of 60,000 Pounds of Nitrate
Sixty thousand pounds of ammonium nitrate, used as a fertilizer but also in explosives, are missing from a rail shipment that was due to arrive in California from Wyoming.
A railcar loaded with 30 tons of the chemical left Cheyenne, Wyoming, on April 12. The car was found to be empty after it arrived two weeks later at a rail stop in the Mojave Desert, according to a short incident report from the explosives firm that made the shipment.
Ammonium nitrate was the explosive in the massive bomb used in the Oklahoma City terror attack of 1995. It was also the substance that caused a deadly explosion in a warehouse in the port of Beirut, Lebanon, in 2020.
Foul play is not suspected yet*, but the loss of a hazardous chemical is just the latest rail problem in the past several months. In February, a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, eventually leading to a massive explosion that spread potentially hazardous substances to the surrounding community.
*Seriously?!

Texas legislators have passed a bill banning child sex-change procedures statewide. If signed by Gov. Abbott, this legislation will permanently shut down the child sex-change programs at Texas Children's Hospital I exposed earlier this week.

School controversially facilitates 13-Year-Old girl's gender transition without parental consent
In the latest legal development between parental rights and school confidentiality, a mother from Newcastle, Maine, has initiated a lawsuit against her child's school district. The suit alleges that the school facilitated her 13-year-old teenager's social gender transition, including providing a chest binder, and encouraging the use of a different name and pronouns, all without parental consultation or consent.

He has repeatedly claimed that he suffers from a variety of mental illnesses and has written in extensive detail about the sexual fetishes that motivated his “gender identity.”

Musings on executive orders...
Executive orders are directives issued by the President of the United States that have the force of law but are subject to judicial review. They are used to set policy or implement laws, but their effectiveness in changing the behavior of state citizens can be limited. The reason for this is that executive orders can only be enforced by federal agencies, and these agencies do not have the authority to directly regulate the behavior of individual citizens or states.
For example, an executive order may direct a federal agency to withhold funding from a state that is not complying with a federal law or policy. However, the state can challenge the order in court, and a judge may rule that the order is unconstitutional or exceeds the President's authority. In addition, the federal government may face legal challenges from individual citizens or groups who believe that the order violates their rights or the Constitution.
Moreover, states have their own sovereignty and can enact their own laws and regulations. This means that an executive order issued by the federal government may not be applicable or enforceable in a particular state. For instance, a state could choose to ignore an executive order on immigration and continue to provide sanctuary to undocumented immigrants.
In summary, while executive orders can be a powerful tool for the President to set policy and implement laws, their effectiveness in changing the behavior of individual citizens or states can be limited due to constitutional constraints, legal challenges, and state sovereignty.
