After posting this rebuttal on Twitter, the WashPo post was taken down. A small win for it is still available online with no corrections. Therefore their readership knows no better.
The alleged cut to WIC is misleading; WIC infrastructure was actually INCREASED from 13.6 million last year to 14 million in the current bill. AND, cash voucher amounts are also receiving a proposed increased from last year.
The proposed cut from 6.2 billion to 6 billion, that D's are outraged at R's for, covers a ton of administrative costs across SNAP, but isn't actually a cut to WIC at all. AND, as many should know, "no appropriation for any office shall be increased or decreased by more than 5 percent." Republicans couldn't "cut WIC," if they wanted to, because the law doesn't allow for more or less than 5%.
FY 2022- "The Committee recommendation fully funds estimated WIC participation in fiscal year 2022. The Committee provides $90,000,000 for breastfeeding support initiatives and $13,600,000 for infrastructure."
Also, the cost estimate for last year was 6 billion, but adjusted to/recommend at 6.28 billion to account for inflation. But inflation doesn't exist, thanks to Bidenomics right....

No, it is a direct assault on social justice and democracy to attempt to inhibit the people from selecting their leaders. Media and journalists as a profession (formerly a profession) are duty bound to be as objective as reasonably possible and to leave their bias and privilege behind when they gather objective facts and let the people choose. For real, so many of you who may think that you are saving democracy are actually steamrolling right over it.
A moment of humility and self reflection could save the 4th estate and democracy. Else you and the majority of your industry, which did so much good for so long, will define yourselves and your work product to be of the “so-called” variety.
Will you be remembered as one who destroyed democracy and journalism and unleashed totalitarianism across the globe. Will you be blameless or directly responsible for suffering and death and destruction on a global scale.

Al Schmidt was just appointed as Pennsylvania Secretary of State by Josh Shapiro. Schmidt will now oversee all Pennsylvania elections.

When Missouri announced they are skipping the Presidential Primary and using the Caucus only, many were upset. However, this is how Presidents where nominated to run in the beginning of our country. Any State that has been using caucus and having citizens vote in a primary were/are wasting tax payers money.
Primary elections are just a money grab to fill the party coffers in which they determine which elector got the $$$ for campaigning for President.
Phenomenology has been pushing ppl to become party precinct people in their counties because precinct committees are the ones that participate in Caucuses. Caucuses determine who they pick to run for President. They determine who are the delegates and those delegates carry the vote to the State convention where the President elect for the State is determined.
The DNC are pros at this. They always have caucuses - ever hear the term 'super delegates'? After MO announced I created a thread to inform people how this all works.
